Welcome to St. Paul’s! Sunday, May 15th, 2011 If you are visiting us today or searching for a faith community - welcome! Please make yourself at home, fill out a Pew Card, found by the Hymn Books and Bibles, ask a greeter any questions you might have, and join us for some refreshments after worship today in Sanderson Hall. We encourage everyone to ‘lug-a-mug’ for coffee time! Baby and Toddler care is available in the Mezzanine, starting at 10:20 a.m. each Sunday. Our older children leave the Sanctuary after the ‘Time with our Children" and gather as one in Waite Hall. We’re glad you’re here! [1] LUNCH ANYONE? THE CONGREGATIONAL CARE LUNCH IS TODAY Tickets are $5.00 per person and are available in Sanderson Hall. Come join us for a lovely lunch and great conversation. [2] THIS WEEK, KENT WILL BE IN MINNEAPOLIS FOR THE FESTIVAL OF HOMILETICS - a preaching conference. There will be 1,700 clergy from across the continent attending this annual event - what could be more fun! [3] THE CONGREGATION’S ASSISTANCE in informing the Church Office of persons needing pastoral care, is appreciated. [4] EMERGENCY FOOD CUPBOARD During the month of April we gave out 162 bags of food. We are in need of chicken noodle and vegetable soup, tuna and hot cereal. Thank you. [5] The DEBORAH UNIT OF ST. PAUL’S UCW will meet on Tuesday, May 17th in the Four Season’s Room at 7:30 p.m. Our guest speaker will be Brant Wilson, who will tell us of his personal knowledge of Canada’s Group of Seven Painter, A.Y. Jackson. All guests are very welcome to join us. [6] MOTHER’S DAY CAMPAIGN - The Mission & Outreach Ministry, in partnership with the Outreach Ministry at Grace United Church, is embarking on a Mother’s Day Project to support the Massey Centre for Teenaged Mothers in Toronto. We are kindly requesting BABY FORMULA. They need MILK-based powder or liquid baby formula (not soya). Prices in local stores range from $12 for 1 kg. powder to $40 for 24 - 8 oz. Cans. Please bring your donations to the church on May 22 or 29. We would also be pleased to accept cash donations for any amount to go towards a large bulk purchase. [7] CIRCLE OF FRIENDS. The last pot-luck lunch for this year is on Tuesday, May 24th at 12:15 p.m. The speaker is Constable Tom McKay and he will speak on Fraud Prevention which will include street scams and identity theft . Please bring ideas for topics & speakers for the next season which starts in September 2011. Come & enjoy a great lunch and fellowship. [8]SUNDAY, JUNE 26th (after service) THE BOOK CLUB WILL MEET in the Upper Room to review the final selection for this season, "Anne Freeman’s Travelling Fabulous Funeral" by Kris Radish. It is a chance to share your thoughts about the journey friends take, instigated by their friend Anne Freeman. A story of surprise encounters, friendships and relationships. Please bring your recommendations for the 2011-2012 Reading List which will take us from September 2011 to June 2012. We ask that you have read any books you recommend. This list will hopefully create some summer reading suggestions! All are welcome. [9] FUNDSCRIP Shopping is easy - see the ordering schedule under ‘Upcoming Dates’. Give your order form to Sheila White on Sunday, then place your cheque (made out to St. Paul’s United Church) in an envelope marked ‘FundScrip’ on the collection plate on Sunday morning; or you could bring your order/cheque to the Church Office through the week. [10] ANNUAL YOUTH GROUP CANOE TRIP. From June 28th to July 2nd the Youth will be back out in the wilderness learning teamwork, leadership and canoeing skills! [11] A celebration of MAGNIFICENT MOZART will conclude the SILVER SEASON OF BRAMPTON FESTIVAL SINGERS on Sunday, May 29th, 2011 - 7:30 p.m. at the Rose Theatre. Together with the HEADWATERS CONCERT CHOIR, a massed chorus of 90 voices, accompanied by the GREAT LAKES ORCHESTRA, will present The "Trinity Mass" and selections from the "Great Mass in C Minor". A fitting conclusion to a most successful season. All tickets are $25 general admission, available from chorus members or the Rose Theatre box office. [12] BRAMPTON FOLK CLUB Present "ACROSS THIS LAND" Saturday, June 4th at 7:30 p.m. A tribute to some of Canada’s finest songwriters and the amazing places they’ve written about. Performed by the Brampton Folk Club. Tickets available at the church office or at the door. Help promote live music in Brampton.
